In what is becoming an annual tradition, the Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, California, just hosted its 2019 holiday party. But rather than making a party for its guests or employees, it was a party for children – more than 300 local needy children, to be exact.
This marks the fourth year for the casino’s Holiday of Hope event. This year, it meant a three-hour party for local families struggling to provide their kids with a merry Christmas on their own.
A Winter Wonderland
Party guests were treated to a magical winter wonderland inside the Pechanga Grand Ballroom. Complete with train rides, photos with Santa, live caroling by the Vista Murrieta High School choir and holiday cookie decoration. The 22,000-square foot Polar Express event also offered kids a chance to cozy up to a (fake) fire to watch holiday movies before they continue on to the next “station,” where they could enjoy a holiday buffet with the entire family.

Making the Holidays Brighter
At the end of the event, nobody went home empty handed. Children were allowed to choose a present from a basket of gifts and parents received a basket containing a family game, a blanket, hot cocoa, popcorn, and a gift card to spend at a local grocery store – the perfect combo for a holiday night in with the kids.
“We are just trying to make the holidays a little bit brighter for these deserving families,” said Edith Atwood, President of the Pechanga Development Corporation. “This is about providing these very special families with an exclusive Christmas wonderland to experience all of the sights, sounds and smells to bring some added joy during this holiday season.”
‘Tis the Season of Giving
Pechanga Resort Casino is not the only one helping make the holidays a little brighter this year. A number of casino resorts around the country are getting into the Christmas spirit with their own celebrations. And in New Hampshire, a new charity casino is making sure revenues go back into the community and into the hands of those who need it.
In 2018, charity betting establishments in New Hampshire generated over $9 million for a number of non-profit organizations around the state.
