NASCAR Joins the Gambling Race

Gentlemen, start your betting! NASCAR plans to open its Las Vegas playoff races with in-race betting options starting on Sunday. In addition to pre-race bets on winners or head-to-head matches, bettors will also have to chance to make live bets on what is happening during the races.
NASCAR partnered with Genius Sports in May to begin the process of integrating live betting in upcoming races. In-race betting allows a variety of new and exciting betting options, including fastest lap times, number of passes, and number of lead changes, just to name a few.
“In-race betting in particular can be 70-75% of all bets placed,” explained Scott Warfield, NASCAR’s managing director of gaming, “Every lap can be a [betting] opportunity.”

While betting on horse races has gone on for hundreds of years, 2019 marks the first year that betting on car races became legal in multiple states. After legalizing sports betting in recent years, sports betting in the U.S. launched a domino effect, with more and more states loosening up restrictions on sports betting.
