Twice Lucky: Pennsylvania Woman Secures a Second Lottery Jackpot Win from the Same Store

Only six numbers have the power to change your life forever. However, in the lottery, there is a saying that goes; the odds of being struck by lightning are better than winning a single lottery in your entire lifetime. What is worse is the odds of winning a lottery jackpot are about 1 in 175 million. If you actually think about it, the odds of being struck by lightning are 1 in 3 million, or dying from a bee sting is 1 in 6.1 million or even giving birth to conjoined twins is 1 in 200,000 so you do the math.

However, for Peggy Dodson, it seems like she is one of the world’s luckiest people; she has won the lottery twice in just two years. The Pennsylvanian claimed her second lottery win just two years after winning the first one off a scratch-off ticket bought from the same store. The lucky woman’s second win was a $1 million lottery jackpot, which is 10 times more than her first win.

Twice Lucky

Peggy won the $1 million after buying from a local store a Max-A-Million scratch-off ticket. It is in this same store where two years ago, she bought a Family Feud scratch-off that won her $100,000 in prize money.

While collecting her money, the Lancaster County resident told lottery officials she used, to some extent, superficial means to choose the winning ticket.

“I liked that ticket because of the color purple, so it was the first one (on the roll), and it was the million dollar winner!” she said.

Dodson and her husband have already planned for a vacation after paying off some bills to celebrate the win.

“We’re going to pay our mortgage off, we’ll pay our truck off, and we’ll go to the Grand Canyon and Alaska!” she said.

The Odds of Winning a Lottery more than once

We have seen the statistics of winning a lottery once, however despite some people beating such outrageous odds, some people like Peggy Dodson have gone on to win the lottery more than once.

Sometimes it is usually just pure chance, but in other times, the winners invested in a considerable portion of their previous winnings into more lottery tickets. By doing so, they exponentially increase their odds of securing another win. In other cases, it is just repetition and determination, like playing the same numbers every time in the same game.

No matter the method used, some people seemingly capture lightning in a bottle.

Other Multiple Lottery Winners

There have been incredible stories over the years of multiple jackpot winners. Peggy is among those who have won multiple lotteries in a number of years. Other cases include that of a former math professor, Joan Ginther, who won over $20 million in four wins spanning between the years 1993 and 2008. Another case is that of Richard Lustig, who has won an incredible seven times and has even published a book on how to win the lottery.

Just this year, a Virginian woman won the lottery a record 30 times and in just one day! The woman by the name Deborah Brown had an amazing stroke of luck when she purchased 30 Pick 4 tickets that had the same combination in one day: $5.000 dollars is the top price for a Pick 4 ticket, hence she won the maximum price of $150,000.

Overall, winning the lottery once is incredible; winning twice is against all theodds and even winning more than once in a day is, without doubt, mind-blowing. Despite the odds, many people are still winning big out there.
